I love candles when they are burning. However, I do not care for the smoldering that occurs after blowing them out. TOP
The best way to extinguish a candle is to use a wick dipper. If you do not have one available, use an old metal butter knife to gently push wick into the wax and straighten it up immediately. You can order one on our "Needful things" page as well! This eliminates the smoke that you would normally see when blowing out a candle. Allow candle to cool before replacing lid on jar.
When I light my candle it has a little flame and won’t stay lit. TOP
The odds are your wick has been cut too short. Carve away enough wax to expose the fresh wick, then trim 1/4 inch off the top of the candle and burn the candle for its recommended time to reform its appearance.
My candle is burning straight down the middle is there something wrong with my candle? TOP
Be sure to burn your candles 1 hour for each inch of its diameter, allowing the flame time to melt the wax to the outer edge. Burning less time will cause the candle to core burn down the middle & shorten burn time. Example: a 3" wide candle should be burned for 3 hours at a time.
Why is my candle only melting the wax on one side of the container? TOP
This is usually caused by the wick moving off center. Use a wick dipper or butter knife to gently push it back to center. If there is a draft, rotating the candle can help.
I have black soot on the inside of my container candle. TOP
Keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times will avoid carbon build up on the wick and black soot. If soot builds up inside container cool the candle completely. Clean with a paper towel & Windex or a baby wipe. Afterward, clean the same area with water dampened paper towel. Allow the container to dry thoroughly before relighting.
